Lawns LTD has grown from a one-woman mowing operation to a full-service landscape company since its founding in 1983. Whether planning, designing, or caring for landscapes, our neighbors trust that we will cultivate strong relationships – our company culture of decades-long loyalty to clients and legacy employees sets us apart from the competition.
We are committed to giving back to the Waco community. Annually, the company donates a combination of time, product, and service to a mission-driven project or organization. In 2022, our team collaborated with Ascension Providence Hospital to help create a beautiful outdoor courtyard, Sister C’s Serenity Garden. In 2023, we partnered with Hillcrest Baptist Church to provide landscape and irrigation design/installation for their new Wellness Center.

About Our Founder
Lisa moved to Waco in 1979 to attend college – just a girl (and her dog) with a passion for maintaining exterior spaces. After graduation from Baylor University, with a Sears credit card in hand, her mowing gigs officially became Lawns LTD. With her expertise in creative design and a sincere focus on building relationships, Lisa transformed her side hustle into a full-service firm beloved by her community for 40 years.
After the change of company ownership in 2021, Lisa graciously trained the landscape design team to ensure a seamless transition. With her newfound retirement time, she has been traveling the world with her partner, practicing new recipes in the kitchen, and continuing to support animal welfare initiatives.

About Our Owners
Beth and Sid Smith are the owners of Lawns LTD. After moving to Waco in 2020, Sid’s background in executive-level strategic business led to the initial collaboration with friend and neighbor Lisa Torgersen. Beth brings her passion for and knowledge of plants to the team as a Texas Master Gardener.
Beth and Sid are Baylor sweethearts, married for over 35 years! They are blessed to share two children, two grandchildren, and three animal sidekicks – two dogs and a cat. Their connection to Baylor continues through Sid’s leadership in the Community Entrepreneurship Program.
The Smith family, along with their talented team of professionals, is proud to foster the legacy of Lawns LTD for years to come.
